Mike
Casey discovered his love for music while in the
Marine Corps when he taught himself to play, first harmonica
then guitar so he could be part of the band that played
whenever possible. Through the years he taught himself bass
guitar and played with a country band that toured the United
States as " The Country Cousins". When that band eventually
split up he taught himself how to play the keyboard and set
out as a solo act, playing at taverns and lodges and
anywhere he could find the work in the Sierra foothills area
south of Sacramento. Throughout all this time he managed to
put in 20 years as a Muni bus driver in San Francisco,
California, work in a saw mill in Valley Springs California,
sell real estate in Valley Springs and drive an eighteen
wheeler all over the United States. |

Musical Memories with Mike and Merle. A collection
of big band, easy listening, rock n roll and country oldies.

Merle Hatley
grew up singing. She memorized every word of every song she heard and
sang for anyone who would listen. She got her start in "show business"
when she joined a country group called the "Country Heirs" Then she was
asked to sing with some big bands playing in the San Francisco bay area.
She decided to try her luck as a solo act using karaoke type tapes for
background music. She worked successfully at this for several years.
How we met. One day, while stopping his
semi truck in Lodi to see old friends after delivering his cargo, Mike
was introduced to the sister of one of his friends. Her name was Merle
and they discovered they had a mutual love of music. They decided to
blend their talents and the result is the bouncy, laid back and smooth
sounds of old-time rock and country along with some big band numbers.
Listening to Mike and Merle brings back memories of times that should
never be forgotten. |
